McFly’s Danny Jones recently made a grim admission about his jungle bathing habits

A doctor has issued a stark warning regarding how often you should be changing your underwear amid Danny Jones’ grim I’m A Celebrity... hygiene admission.

The musician is currently one of the contestants taking part on ITV’s reality series I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, which means living with pretty basic conditions in the Australian jungle.

Campmates enter the jungle with two pairs of every item in their famous uniform (per The Express) as well as three ‘additional’ pairs of underwear with them, which is a major departure from the life of luxury most will be used to.

When it comes to washing clothes and cleaning themselves, options are similarly limited, as the only shower in the jungle is cold water running from a nearby ‘waterfall’.

Or celebrities can simply ditch bathing and changing their clothes altogether.

One person who appears to be doing this is 38-year-old Jones, who admitted on a recent episode hadn’t changed his boxers for multiple days.

“I’ve not changed my boxers that I had a snake on,” he declared to the camp.

Expanding on his bold hygiene admission, Jones joked: “Since it’s rained I’ve not washed. Don’t fight it, just stink!

“What do spiders do? They don’t get up and shower, do they,” he added.

It would appear the McFly singer isn’t the only campmate making a stinky protest either, with Oti Mabuse later revealing how the cold weather is deterring celebs from taking a shower. “We are all stinking up that camp right now, it’s disgusting and I smell horrendous,” she said.

However, the campmates hygiene habits are not ones which doctors endorse.

Other than the obvious fact that not showering or changing your clothes will mean you smell bad, it can also lead to various health complications.

In a recent TikTok post, TV health expert Dr Jen Caudle outlined the reason why changing your pants every day is more important than ‘personal preference’.

“Changing your underwear every day helps potentially lower the risk of moisture being trapped in your genital area and developing bacterial yeast infections and stuff like that,” she explained in the clip.

Which is certainly not something which will make the jungle experience any more enjoyable.

According to Yahoo Life, reusing unclean underwear can also increase your risk of developing bacterial infections – such as a UTI – or a fungal infection, as the accumulated sweat provides the perfect breeding ground for fungus to grow.

Easy way to avoid this? Change your underpants.
