They have addressed the rumours

If you’ve been living under a rock the past year, the ‘Hawk Tuah girl’ went viral after a street interview where she was asked: “What’s one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time?”

Her famous reply became: “You gotta Hawk Tuah and spit on that thang.”

And that girl, real name Haliey Welch, has been milking the fame by releasing her own merchandise, AI-powered dating app and now her ‘meme coin’ cryptocurrency.

However, have you heard of the saying: don’t bite the hand that feeds?

Well, this was the case as the creators of the Hawk Tuah video, YouTubers Tim and Dee, have come forward to reveal some truths about her rise to fame.

Despite the duo’s interview with her blowing up the internet hours after it was posted, things turned sour after Welch claimed she didn’t owe them a thank you.

And in one of the many interviews following, she also alleged that the YouTubers were the ones who approached her on the night in question.

“That’s not how that happened,” the creators explained in their video posted by Tim & Dee TV, They added that it was in fact Welch who ‘most definitely walked across the street to us’ – not the other way around.

Tim and Dee also shared screenshots of Instagram messages to clear up more misconceptions.

Welch had previously claimed that Tim and Dee reached out to her friend Chelsea for more content, but the messages show Chelsea initiated contact first.

In the DMs, Chelsea seemed open to collaboration at first – one that involved $10,000 and a cut of merch sales – writing that Welch “would be down for more” but later unsent the message.

Instead, she sent a passive-aggressive reply accusing Tim and Dee of ‘doing them dirty’ by posting the video and mentioning that she and Welch were going to ‘do their own thing.’

Even more damning, later messages revealed Chelsea admitting to coming up to Tim and Dee that night.

Tim and Dee’s video exposing the drama has been out for less than 24 hours but the internet is already buzzing and the comments are flooding in.

“Thank you for finally exposing her, her 15 minutes needs to stop,” one viewer wrote.

“Wickedness doesnt last long yall will outlast her in the long run, keep going,” added another.

A third viewer chimed in, replying: “I’m thankful you guys are exposing her”.

Seems like he doesn’t want to talk tuah

Hawk Tuah girl, also known by her real name Haliey Welch, became an overnight sensation following a viral TikTok clip where she was asked to provide ‘one move in bed that makes a man go crazy’.

“You gotta give him that hawk tuah and spit on that thing” were the wise words said by Welch, and the rest is now history.

What followed was mass hysteria surrounding the ‘unique’ phrase she uttered, and it has since been endlessly memed and made into countless pieces of merch too.

Welch has since revealed that she holds no love for the YouTubers that made her famous, as Tim Dickerson and DeArius Marlow, otherwise known as Tim & Dee TV, have ‘blocked her on everything’.

When asked, on the Bobby Bones Show, whether she’s talked to and thanked the pair for making her famous, Welch responded:

“Tell them thank you for what?”

While it initially seems like Miss Hawk Tuah isn’t appreciative of the platform that propelled her into superstardom, she goes on to explain why she doesn’t exactly have the fondest feelings for the pair:

“Well, we reached out to them and I asked them to stop posting those videos, and he never did, he blocked us all on everything. So I’m not telling them thank you for anything.”

She revealed that her initial plans were to simply just ignore the popularity of the original video and continue on with her normal life, but the repeated attention put on her viral moment made her reconsider what she could make of the moment.

And if there’s one thing you can’t fault Welch for is taking advantage of her 15 minutes of fame, as she’s become quite the internet sensation and has even started her own business ventures.

At the forefront of this is the ‘Talk Tuah’ podcast that she hosts, which reached a peak of #4 on the US Spotify charts in late September.

She’s even drawn the attention of the richest man in the world, stating that Elon Musk has given her personal messages on X.

The self-professed ‘queen of memes’ has now amassed over 2.5 million followers on Instagram, and has a supposed net worth of around $200,000 according to CelebrityNetWorth.

Not too bad for a single catchphrase, and you could argue that she’s certainly got the last laugh in her battle against Tim & Dee TV.

Invest on that thang

Is there anything this girl can’t do? In a year that’s given us Brat summer, a jumping Elon Musk, Anthony Ammirati showing his own take on the ‘pole’ vault at the Olympics, and Glasgow’s Willy Wonka Experience, Haliey “Hawk Tuah Girl” Welch has stood out from the crowd.

While some still question how Welch became famous, she’s holding onto those 15 seconds of fame with both hands and really spitting on that ‘thang.’

Keen to show she’s got a business head on her, Welch has announced she’s launching her own memecoin.

With Bitcoin breaking records and hitting its all-time high, cryptocurrency continues to boom in a post-election world. Now Welch is getting in on the action.

Posting on X and revealed during an episode of her Talk Tuah podcast with Mark Cuban, Welch announced her official $HAWK memecoin.

Proving there are any number of puns you can make from ‘hawk tuah,’ Welch has partnered with Web3 launchpad and platform overHere, hoping to ‘redefine’ memecoins and bring in a new consumer crypto.

Hyping the releases of $HAWK, Welch posted on X, saying: “Becoming a meme has been an incredible journey. I love making memes and connecting with people worldwide. With $HAWK, I want to bring that same joy and community spirit into the crypto space.”

Saying that she knows a lot of her fans will be new to crypto, Welch wants to make the onboarding process as easy as possible. Free $HAWK tokens will be distributed to her followers via allowlist campaigns, while others can get them through meme and NFT communities – yes, NFTs are apparently still a thing.

If you want a piece of Hawk Tuah Girl’s memecoin pie, the $HAWK token will start trading on Solana on December 4. This gives fans time to join the allowlist and hopefully make for a smooth launch.

The move has proved divisive, with many taking to the comments to call her out. One skeptic said: “No one saw this coming. The whole ecosystem is shocked and is very very excited for this.* *This is complete sarcasm.”

Another grumbled, “Ah sh*t we lost her to the meme coin bros,” and a third said, “We are definitely in a bull market with pump and dumps left and right.”

Despite her naysayers, Welch has previously shown an interest in cryptocurrency. She spoke at both Nashville’s Bitcoin Conference and Korea Blockchain Week, apparently making connections with key figures in the community.

This isn’t Welch’s only venture to branch out from being TikTok famous and having her face slapped on merch. She’s also showing her tech credentials by launching an AI-powered dating app known as Pookie Tools. Love or loathe the Hawk Tuah phenomenon, it doesn’t look like Haliey Welch is going anywhere just yet.

Swipe on that thang

Haliey Welch took the internet by storm earlier in 2024, and since then, the rise of ‘Hawk Tuah Girl’ has taken her to some crazy places.

She’s performed on stage alongside Zack Bryan, partied with Shaquille O’Neal, and even claimed to have had Elon Musk in her DMs.

As well as making bank on merchandise and launching her own podcast (brilliantly called Talk Tuah), Welch’s next steps see her launch her own AI dating app.

If there wasn’t already enough choice when it comes to dating apps, you might feel like you’ve swiped and scrolled on every option on Bumble, Hinge, and Tinder.

Welch hopes to offer something different with Pookie Tools.

Although Welch’s boyfriend was originally just referred to as ‘Pookie’, she celebrated his name reveal by naming an app after his nickname.

The App Store listing for Pookie Tools reads: “Gen Z’s relationship guru, Haliey Welch, launches Pookie Tools, all her newest cheat codes for a smarter, more enjoyable dating experience. Designed to help at every step of your relationship, Pookie’s AI tools assist you in making connections, enhancing profiles, and planning dates confidently.”

Aimed specifically at Gen Z, Pookie Tools boasts an AI chatbot that can give you general dating advice and offer tips on conversation starters. From outfit suggestions to zodiac compatibility, Pookie Tools is making the most of a rise in those who are even turning to ChatGPT to help with their romance woes.

Speaking to TechCrunch, Welch has explained her latest business venture.

“I [was on] Bill Maher’s podcast, and it was actually one of his ideas he gave me. He kind of pushed me, in a way, saying I should be a relationship coach. And so we came up with the idea. … This app is the easiest way for them to find their forever Pookie.”
