Montgomery Reef, located off the coast of Western Australia, is one of the largest inshore reefs, spanning approximately 400 square kilometers. The reef presents a dramatic natural spectacle as it emerges from the water during low tide, with water cascading off the sides, creating hundreds of miniature waterfalls. This tidal shift, which can range from 4 to 10 meters, reveals the reef’s flat structure and surrounding lagoons. Wildlife, including sea turtles, blacktip reef sharks, and various bird species, flock to the area during this time, feeding on exposed marine life. The reef is a crucial habitat within the Camden Sound Marine Park, offering a unique ecological and cultural experience.

I visited it this year. It’s mesmerizing especially from above. One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited
