If you needed something to distract you from the panic that’s setting in from seeing Christmas lights being strung, trees put up and even – dare I say it – wreaths being donned on front doors and have been left screeching ‘But it’s only early November?!’ then don’t fret, because a new Netflix thriller has you covered.
For those of you who preferred film or drama studies to maths – I would expect nothing less if you clicked on this article – that totals a whopping 48.2 million views in just two weeks.
And it spent a week in the top spot of Netflix’s Top 10 before being bumped to the second spot the following week.
Yes, over 48 million views across two weeks (Netflix)
The movie’s synopsis is basically one of every woman’s nightmares – finding yourself lost in a forest, encountering a man – a bear would’ve definitely been a safer bet – and being drugged and forced to try and run and hide before the paralysis sets in and you’re left unable to move, fighting for survival.
The film – titled Don’t Move – was written by TJ Cimfel and David White and directed by Adam Schindler and Brian Netto.
It stars Kelsey Asbille (One Tree Hill), alongside Finn Wittrock (American Horror Story), Moray Treadwell (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest) and Daniel Francis (Stay Close).
Viewers have called the film ‘heart pounding’ (Netflix)
Despite a pretty meagre Rotten Tomatoes Popcornmeter score of 38 percent, it achieved a fairly solid Tomatometer score of 72 and well, ultimately, the film is clearly still being watched no matter what the reviews say with its over 40 million views in just two weeks.
And the love for the thriller has spilled onto social media too.
One Twitter user said: “If you’re a fan of Thriller Movies. Go and watch this movie on Netflix ‘Don’t Move‘. Sick, injury detailed, heart pounding & crazy scenes and you just want to scream. Omo one of the cr@ziest movie I’ve seen this year!”
Another put: “Don’t Move on Netflix is too good.”
A third commented: “Y’all gotta watch Don’t Move on Netflix.”
A fourth wrote: “Stressing myself out watching “don’t move” on Netflix.”
And a final resolved: “That movie gives the same vibe as trying to fight in a dream.”
Don’t Move is available to stream on Netflix now.
There’s nothing quite like getting into the Halloween spirit by scaring yourself sh*tless and binge-watching scary flicks.
Whether you’re a horror, gore or psychological thriller fan, this film has received rave reviews from those who have dared to watch it.
The story focuses on a family that is invited ‘to spend a whole weekend in a lonely home in the countryside, but as the weekend progresses, they realize that a dark side lies within the family who invited them’.
James McAvoy takes the lead in the movie and viewers have been raving about his stellar performance.
He stars alongside the likes of Mackenzie Davis, Scoot McNairy and Aisling Franciosi.
The 2024 remake is the latest instalment, with the original 2022 casting being Dutch and Danish, as it’s set around a new friendship.

With an 84 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes from both critics and regular viewers, you just know that Speak No Evil is worth the watch.
One critic on the Rotten Tomatoes site praised: “As a fan of the original, I really think this did it justice and added a new twist and made its own film.”
A second penned: “B*****dizes the original in the exact way everyone feared it would when it was announced and yet, it still works?”
Fans of Speak No Evil have left raving comments on the Netflix Bangers Facebook group, describing how amazed they were at the production quality of the movie.
One person wrote: “Omg this movie is so good to watch.
“The ending is perfectly done.”
Another said: “Excellent movie definitely better than the original.”
Someone else commented: “I liked it much better than the original! Especially the ending.”
A fourth said: “Good movie with amazing performance by James McAvoy.”
Lead actor McAvoy found out exactly what people thought of his film after watching it for the first time at ComicCon with a live audience earlier this year.
James McAvoy stars as Paddy in Speak No Evil (Universal Pictures)
He told Sky News: “I might never watch another film with an audience again because it was wicked.
“Every time I wanted them to laugh, they were laughing. Every time I wanted them to get shocked and scared, they were scared and then they surprised me with other stuff that happened.
“The biggest thing that surprised me is people were throwing stuff at the screen at one point when my character was being particularly toxic, which was amazing.
“It was brilliant.”
McAvoy also shared how the film attempted to set itself apart from the original, which had a very different ending.
He shared: “One of the things the film is about is compliance and how compliant we have become as a society and how that is potentially, I think the film is arguing, a big problem because we accept terrible behaviour not just from individuals like Paddy, but from society and governments and institutions that run our lives”.
The Scottish actor added: “I feel like we tried to do something specific with this film and you never know if you’re actually going to manage or not. This thing turned out like I think we wanted it to turn out.”
It’s probably not advised to watch a whole horror series in one sitting (because, you know, nightmares and stuff), but fans are loving this Netflix series so much that they’re binging it in just 24 hours.
And the series is fresh on the platform, having only landed on Netflix on Friday, April 5.
Titled Parasyte: The Grey, the series’ synopsis reads: “People must rise to combat unidentified parasites after they violently take over human hosts and gain power.”
The six-episode show is based on Hitoshi Iwaaki’s manga, Parasyte.
Despite having only just been released a few days ago, people are already raving about it.
Taking to Facebook page Netflix Bangers, one person called for people’s honest reviews of the series.
“Just watched it in one day,” one person replied. “I loved it!”
Echoing similar sentiments, a different fan said: “Just watched in 1 day and I love it!”
Netflix
Another went on: “Just finished. It’s a must watch.”
Someone else pointed out that, while they enjoyed the series that they’ve since finished, it left them ‘awake all through the night’.
Elsewhere, with it being based on the anime series of the same name, someone else urged people to watch that first and then the live-action series. The cartoon is available to stream on Hulu.
Just days after its release and Parasyte: The Grey is already in Rotten Tomatoes’ 100 percent club.
Meanwhile, it has an 80 percent audience score.
One reviewer said: “As a horror series, Parasyte: The Grey is superb. As sci-fi, it’s exciting. But more importantly, as an adaptation, this is a showstopper.”

Ahead of the series’ release, director Yeon Sang-ho spoke about wanting the Netflix show to coexist alongside the manga version.
“To me, [the manga] Parasyte is about coexistence,” Yeon told Netflix. “So I wanted Parasyte: The Grey to echo this theme. I questioned whether people could peacefully coexist with other organisms or mutants unlike themselves.”
As to where the ‘grey’ part of the title came from, Yeon went on to explain: “The original work talks about the theme of coexistence, and we wanted to delve into that [idea of] coexistence between people, human beings, and parasites.”
He added: “And the lead character, Su-in, is also in the grey area between the human world and the parasite world.”
You really are spoilt for choice on the popular streaming platform when it comes to fantasy.
But one series that a lot of Netflix subscribers are loving right now is Locke & Key.
With three seasons on the streamer, fans have a lot of content to watch.
So, what exactly is Locke & Key about?
Well, an official synopsis for the series reads: “After their father is murdered under mysterious circumstances, the three Locke siblings and their mother move into their ancestral home, Keyhouse, which they discover is full of magical keys that may be connected to their father’s death.”
The series stars the likes of Connor Jessup, Emilia Jones, Darby Stanchfield, Jackson Robert Scott and Laysla De Oliveira.
Locke & Key is the current talk of the town on Facebook’s ‘Netflix Bangers’, as one user asked fellow Netflix subscribers what their thoughts on the series are.

“It’s a really good show and keeps you entertained throughout..must watch!” one person penned.
“Great watch, it’s also in my opinion fine to watch with teens. A new kind of semi haunted house with magic/entities,” a second added while a third remarked: “Brilliant, think I’ll watch it from the start again.”
However, not everyone is a fan, with a fellow Netflix Bangers user commenting: “Watched a few episodes of it and just couldn’t get into it. Since the main characters are children, it felt very G rated to me.”
Locke & Key sits at a respectable 68 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes from its three seasons.
As for them individually, season one has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 65 percent, while season three has an ever lower score of 55.

It’s season two of the fantasy horror that fans and critics love, sitting at an impressive 85 percent score on the review site.
Regarding season two, Chelsie Derman, from The Young Folks, wrote: “Some shows out there you may like but not love because the content misses a special quality, a special charm. Locke and Key Season 2 has that special charm, with enough entrancing magic to lure you in.”
While IGN’s Rafael Motamayor penned: “The second season of Locke & Key starts off darker and more focused than its predecessor, with more horror imagery and a terrifying villain, while still finding time for a poignant story of memories and growing up.”
This happens only to a small proportion of the films on there, and can be influenced by a lot of factors.
Movies which have had 100 percent positive reviews have sometimes seen that broken deliberately, when a film critic purposely publishes a negative review solely for that purpose.
It’s also worth noting the number of reviews as well, as obviously the more reviews a film has the more likely one will break the streak.
As for this horror movie, it’s called Late Night With the Devil, and managed a streak of 49 positive reviews without a single negative one.
Impressive, though it had a long way to go to beat the current record holder Leave No Trace, which has a 100 percent rating off 252 reviews.
Shudder
Late Night With the Devil follows a live television broadcast which goes horribly wrong when unsettling events begin to take hold.
And fair warning, there are some spoilers for the film below.
Facing cancellation, a TV talk show takes extreme measures to try and boost their ratings and save their show.
Among the guests are a cynic, a psychic, and a 13-year-old girl who has been possessed by a demon.
What could possibly go wrong?
Although it had an impressive streak with 100 percent, the movie has since been knocked off its perch as more reviews have come in.
Shudder
While it had 100 percent at 49 reviews, it now has 112 reviews and has dropped to 96 percent.
To be fair, that is still a phenomenally good score on the site, and it’s worth noting that it’s in good company in being knocked off a perfect rating.
No less a movie than Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece Citizen Kane held a rating of 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, until 2021.
An 80-year-old negative review of the movie, widely regarded as one of the greatest ever made, was rediscovered and registered on the site taking it to 99 percent.
Another movie which achieved near universal acclaim was Paddington 2. The sequel about the beloved bear was at one point the most-reviewed film with a 100 score, but in 2021, which was clearly a bad year for this, it lost its 100 percent rating after reviewer Eddie Harrison published a negative article.
