Lala Anthony says most married people she knows are miserable.
While it was a dream for many of her friends, things have changed now, as most of them no longer like the idea of marriage. She added, “You just start hearing it less and less. Like, before, that was a goal.” She then noted that while some are happy to be together, most married people tend tp be “miserable” with their significant others.
La La Anthony Filed For A Divorce
The couple filmed some of their time together on the reality show “La La’s Full Court Life.” The show kicked off one year after their marriage in 2010 and spanned five seasons. While it was a hit with fans, the duo ended up calling it quits on their love life and filed for a divorce.
In response to questions about why they split, the reality star noted that they had some “irreconcilable differences.” However, La La eventually opened up on the main issues that caused them to drift apart.
During an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, La La noted that Carmelo’s transfer from Denver Nuggets to New York Knicks affected their marriage. While the beauty entrepreneur was happy about the 2011 trade, she noted that it was the beginning of the end of her union with Carmelo.
The star, who is from New York, recalled that it was “nothing new” to move back there. However, the move “complicated” things more than she expected it to. She said, “Now that I look back, that was kind of the start of the demise of the marriage.”
She also noted that the media’s backlash about the transfer made things hard for them. She recalled, “Things got tough with New York, just constantly being under the spotlight and people watching every little thing.” Since the divorce, her son, whom she shares with Carmelo, has gotten quite “protective” about her dating life.
La La Anthony’s Son Is Worried About Her Dating Again
The “You People” actress noted in a recent episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show” that Kiyan, 15, was worried about her seeing someone new. The teenager who witnessed his parents’ split didn’t want La La to start dating someone just yet.
La La revealed that he wanted her to remain single and didn’t like anyone she saw after Carmelo. She said, “He doesn’t like it. He doesn’t like it at all.”
She recalled asking him, “You just want your mom to be alone? Like, forever?” to which he replied, “Kind of.”
Although the youngster was only being protective, La La thought that was selfish of him as he would “leave her in a heartbeat” whenever he wanted to go out with his friends. “He’s like, ‘All right, Ma, see ya later. I’m going here.’ I’m like ‘…but you don’t want me to have anybody.’
