If Coleen Rooney was hoping to use her stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! to get out from under the shadow of the whole ‘Wagatha Christie’ thing, then it’s not off to a great start.
She’s apparently going to be the highest paid celebrity ever to go on the show, provided of course she actually stays in the jungle long enough to be eligible for her appearance fee.
That just means she’s got to be in there for a grand total of three days before deciding to walk out, but Rooney will likely be hoping she can stay in the jungle a little longer than that.
Of course with the first episode of I’m A Celeb a lot of the drama is focused on finding increasingly dynamic ways to get the celebrities into the camp.
A whole bunch of contestants had to skydive onto a beach and then partner up with another celebrity to run through the jungle with, and Rooney ended up being picked by Radio 1 presenter Dean McCullough.
It had come down to a choice for McCullough between picking Rooney and fellow radio star Melvin Odoom, and it seems like there wasn’t much choice in his mind.
Sorry, Melvin… (ITV)
“Melvin, I’m so, so sorry,” the Radio 1 presenter said as he ran towards the pair with both arms outstretched, only to clasp the hands of Coleen Rooney instead of his colleague before he ran away with her shouting.
“WAGATHA CHRISTIE YOU’RE COMING WITH MEEEEEEE!”
There wasn’t so much as a ‘hello Coleen’ from the disk jockey before he grabbed her hands and shouted the nickname she was given after all that stuff with Rebekah Vardy at the top of his lungs.
Rooney gave a slight shake of the head as they ran off into the jungle together, leaving poor Melvin standing on the beach by himself.
Hopefully, she won’t have to be referred to by ‘Wagatha Christie’ throughout the entirety of I’m A Celeb, though you’d expect a bunch of the campmates are going to ask her about it over the course of the show.

Rooney seems all set for a long stint in the jungle, having left some clear instructions on what the kids need to be doing at all times while she’s away.
Explaining the whole thing in a video before she left, Rooney explained that her children ‘asked me for so many years now’ whether she’d go on I’m A Celeb and she finally said yes.
She said: “Don’t get me wrong. I am really anxious about leaving the kids. That’s my biggest thing, and for weeks and months that’s been on my mind, but I’ve come to terms with it.
“I’ve planned, I’ve prepped. I’ve got an army of people, family, friends, school friends all helping out with the kids, so they are going to be fine, and they are probably going to have a great time when I’m away.”
