Cameron Diaz became a mom for the second time in 2024, and her choice of baby name has certainly raised eyebrows.

Diaz and Madden first met in 2014 and tied the knot in a private ceremony at their Beverly Hills home in January 2015.
When their first child, Raddix, was born in December 2019, the couple similarly surprised fans with the news.
Throughout motherhood, Diaz has remained committed to keeping her children’s lives out of the spotlight.
When announcing Raddix’s birth, she expressed this sentiment: “While we are overjoyed to share this news, we also feel a strong instinct to protect our little one’s privacy.”
Diaz has spoken openly about the joy of motherhood. In a 2020 interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she called parenting “the best thing that ever happened” to her.
“It’s been heaven. Literally every single day, there are just leaps and bounds…and she’s not the same baby that she was yesterday,” Diaz shared.

She echoed similar sentiments on The Kelly Clarkson Show in 2022, discussing the importance of helping her child navigate emotions.
“I feel like as a parent, my job is to just help her find the words to her emotions, her experience, what she’s going through and be able to help her identify that and move through it,” she explained.
Announcing the birth of their latest son last year, the couple wrote: “We are blessed and excited to announce the birth of our Son, Cardinal Madden.”
“He is awesome and We are all so happy he is here! For the kids’ safety and privacy we won’t be posting any pictures – but he’s really cute. We are feeling so blessed and grateful. Sending much love from our fam to yours.”
While the announcement was innocent enough, people couldn’t help but voice their opinions regarding the new baby’s name.
One person wrote: “Cameron Diaz + Benji Madden = CARDINAL Madden. I mean name your kids whatever you want, but that’s terrible.”
A second person added: “What a silly name to give a child!”
However, for all of the negative people, there were also those who spread positivity.
One person wrote: “Love Cardinal!! It’s a beautiful name!”
A second said: “Different names are in and I like it!”
The couple’s announcement quickly sparked an outpouring of love from fans and fellow celebrities.
Singer Katy Perry celebrated the news, calling Cardinal “another earth angel,” while Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz responded with a series of sparkling emojis.
