However, her condition deteriorated shortly after the operation, leading to her hospitalization in intensive care. She passed away three days later, per the Daily Mail.

According to her family, the surgeon who performed the procedure was not authorized to do so.

Her uncle, Ammao Rodríguez, stated that Reyes had an adverse reaction to intravenous medication administered during the surgery.

“She starts to feel sick and goes into cardiac arrest and at that moment they take her out of the room where she was in the [clinic],” Rodríguez said.

Doctors at the clinic reportedly described her condition as “delicate” and instructed her friend to wait outside.

Hours after the surgery, Reyes suffered cardiac arrest and was transferred to the intensive care unit at Manzur Hospital.

The family’s lawyer told Infobae Mexico that the doctor responsible for the procedure moved Reyes when her condition worsened, per the Mirror.

“He took her out of the hospital and dropped her off at the Mansur High Specialty Solutions Hospital, which is where he transferred her because they supposedly did not have an intensive care unit,” the lawyer said.

He further alleged that the surgeon did not take responsibility for Reyes’ condition following her transfer.

Denisse’s sister, Massiel Reyes, paid tribute to her on social media, expressing her grief.

“The day I said goodbye to you, I hugged you, I told you ‘See you in Tampico’ and I didn’t want to let you go,” she said. “The situation in which my sister lost her life is private, and for that reason I ask for total respect for the pain of my mother and my nephew Matías.”
