I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! has always been filmed in New South Wales, besides the North Wales pandemic years

I’m A Celebrity is back in action as the Bushtucker Trials have already begun.

Campmates Maura Higgins and Reverend Richard Coles chewed down on a load of animal body parts and creepy crawlies during their recent eating trial.

And viewers will be glad to know that there’s nothing fake about eating a pig’s eyeballs, cockroaches and a goat’s testicle.

However, the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle may not be as real as you think.

The ITV show has always been filmed in New South Wales, besides the North Wales pandemic years, but the set isn’t actually a stand-alone jungle.

12 of the celebs are actually camped up in a site, which is part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area, totalling 366,500 hectares from Newcastle to Brisbane.

Similar to most TV sets, not everything can be as authentic as it’s made out to be on the telly.

Hosts Ant and Dec previously made a confession about the jungle, as Ant said in a TikTok video: “They don’t cover the camp.”

Dec added: “There’s like a canopy.”

“There’s a canopy in the middle so all the beds are here,” Ant continued, before using Dec’s breakfast beans to demonstrate viewers at home.

While the canopy might cover the beds, it won’t be much use if the rain is coming sideways, Ant said.

Producer Olly Nash told The Mirror in 2016 that the camp even has a secret cave.

“Quite obviously this is the shower. Next door is a secret cave which will be hidden behind a locked door,” he explained.

“It will be used a number of times through out the series for our celebrities.

“Inside it is just a plain cave with a bench but we will be using it through out the series for various events.

“The floors a bit hard – but it can be used for romance.”

And in 2006, former contestant Lauren Booth told the Daily Mail that the shower isn’t as ‘natural’ as it’s made out to be.

“The waterfall, like the pool beneath it, was not part of the jungle at all, but a man-made creation,” she said.

“Unless, of course, ‘real’ rainforest waterfalls get turned off between three and six every afternoon.”
