The bestselling children’s book by J.K. Rowling- is in the early stages of a big screen adaptation, despite the author’s controversial comments about the transgender community.

J.K. Rowling’s bestselling children’s book, *The Christmas Pig*, is currently in the early stages of being adapted into a feature film, despite the author’s controversial comments about the transgender community.

Published in 2011, *The Christmas Pig* tells the story of a boy named Jack, who embarks on a magical journey to rescue his lost toy pig, named “The Impy.” Along the way, Jack and his new toy, “The Christmas Pig,” bought by his parents after the original toy’s disappearance, face numerous challenges to rescue the old toy from the world of forgotten things.

Like her other works, this one is also a magical journey through realms of imagination. With the quest to rescue *The Impy*, Rowling knows how to keep her readers turning the pages. She mentioned that she was inspired to write the book by two twin toy pigs belonging to her son.

According to *Variety*, the project is currently in the early development stage and has yet to find a producer. When asked about this, the author’s representative declined to comment on the matter.

This news comes a week after 58-year-old Rowling, who has a history of making anti-transgender remarks, criticized *Harry Potter* film stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson for rejecting her views in 2020.

After publishing her landmark article on how transgender individuals are treated in the UK, Rowling targeted Radcliffe and Watson, demanding that they “apologize” to her for “hurting transgender people.”

Rowling wrote: “Celebrities who support the transgender movement are eroding the increasingly limited rights of women. Those who use their fame and influence to advocate for minors being able to transition should apologize to both transgender adults and vulnerable women, as the growing opposition from the majority is making it even harder for them, especially when the rights that have been recognized are already very modest.”

In April 2023, it was announced that Warner Bros. would be adapting Rowling’s bestselling *Harry Potter* series into a television series. The show, which will be produced by the author herself, is reportedly set to premiere in 2026.

She stated: “Warner Bros.’ commitment to preserving the integrity of my books in the adaptation is crucial, and I am looking forward to being a part of this new adaptation. This will allow me to be deeply involved in the adaptation process, to the extent of detail and depth that the TV series demands.”

Recently, J.K. Rowling’s production company, Brontë Film and TV, saw a 74% drop in profits in 2023. The company has recently produced the *Cormoran Strike* series, based on the detective novels written by the author under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, such as *The Cuckoo’s Calling*, *The Silkworm*, and *Career of Evil*.
