Becky-Jo Allen was surprised to find out that she was going to have triplets, and the biggest surprise was that all three boys were completely identical. At first, it was only noticed by neighbors and visitors, but a DNA test confirmed that genetically, the three boys were identical. This occurrence is extremely rare, happening only once in 200 million cases.
Becky-Jo has been able to distinguish her children since birth. She mentioned that all three have birthmarks between their eyebrows, with Romain’s being slightly darker and Rohan having a mole on his leg. Although the hospital doctors initially said they were not identical, many people have later commented that the boys look exactly alike.
The babies are named Rocco, Romain, and Rohan. They also have different personalities—one is quite vocal, another is quiet, and the third is somewhere in between.
Before Indiana was born, Becky-Jo had dreams of becoming a nurse-midwife, and after everything she’s been through, she thinks about it even more.
Identical triplets are born when a fertilized egg divides twice. Without fertility treatments, the odds of having such babies range from one in 60,000 to one in 200 million.
Becky-Jo faced significant challenges at first. The babies needed about 130 diapers and four packs of wipes per week. A pack of formula lasted approximately two days, and the washing machine was running three times a day.
The boys’ father doesn’t live with Becky-Jo, and her sister, Lauren, provides her with the most help.
