On a quiet, tree-lined street lined with multimillion-dollar properties, one home stands out: a 14,400-square-foot mansion that Elon Musk, 53, plans to turn into an unusual family compound.
In recent months, Musk has envisioned his children (at least 11 of them) and two of their three mothers living in adjacent properties. The kids would be able to be a part of each other’s lives, while Musk would have more freedom to spend time with them.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk reportedly wants to build a secret family compound for his children and two of his three girlfriends – the mothers of his 2 children. However, so far only one mother has agreed to move in.
According to the sheet The New York Times, The Tesla CEO bought two large homes in a leafy area of Austin, Texas, not far from each other — paying $35 million for the two properties, including a 1.337-square-foot mansion and a six-bedroom house right behind it.Musk also bought a third home a short walk from the other two, the newspaper reported. The billionaire was so secretive about the purchase that he required the sellers to sign nondisclosure agreements, the Times reported.
Musk was also willing to pay top dollar — up to 70 percent more than the homes were selling for on the market, according to the report.

The Tesla chief has publicly advocated having more children to prevent population decline. According to the Times, Musk has even gone so far as to offer his sperm to friends and acquaintances, including Nicole Shanahan, the ex-wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin.
According to the Times, Shanahan denied having an affair with Musk and refused the tycoon’s offer to provide sperm.
So far, Shivon Zilis, Neuralink’s CEO and father of three children with Musk, has moved into the complex.
Musk also has three children with Canadian pop star Grimes. Musk lived with Grimes in a 2023-square-foot home in Austin in the summer of 641. Around that time, they welcomed their third child via surrogate.
Justine Musk, Musk’s first wife, has five children with the Tesla CEO. Neither Grimes nor Justine Musk have lived in the complex until recently.
Musk had wanted to buy the property next door in Austin so he could create a private compound and raise more children, according to the Times. But Grimes moved out shortly after. The Canadian singer was reportedly upset about Musk’s relationship with Zilis, who had donated his sperm to Zilis without Grimes’ knowledge, at the same time the mogul and his pop star girlfriend were expecting their second child.
Zilis gave birth to twins in late 2021 — just weeks before Grimes’ daughter was born, according to author Walter Isaacson’s biography of Musk. Grimes sued Musk for custody of the children.
Musk continues to accumulate properties next to each other in hopes of realizing his vision of a complex where his 11 children can live together.
Elon Musk, Grimes, Justine Musk and Zilis have not commented on the reports.
