Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, have welcomed a baby girl, Buckingham Palace has confirmed in an official statement.

The 36-year-old Princess of York gave birth to her daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, last Wednesday (January 22) at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London.
“Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on Wednesday, 22nd January, at 12:57 p.m., at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London,” the statement read.
The newborn weighed 4 pounds and 5 ounces at birth.
“Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of The Royal Family have all been informed and are delighted with the news,” the Palace added.
The statement continued: “Princess Beatrice and Mr Mapelli Mozzi would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care.
“Her Royal Highness and her daughter are healthy and doing well, and the family are enjoying spending time together with Athena’s older siblings, Wolfie and Sienna.”
The arrival of Athena Elizabeth Rose marks another joyous occasion for the Royal Family, as congratulations pour in for the couple – with many fans praising the name choice.
“How wonderful. Gorgeous baby and lovely name,” one Instagram user wrote, with a second adding: “As a Greek I really love this beautiful Greek name.”
“Aww such wonderful news!! I absolutely love her name,” a third commented. “Welcome to the world baby Athena.
In Greek mythology, Athena was the goddess of wisdom, war, and the crafts.
Beatrice and her husband are already parents to their three-year-old daughter, Sienna. Edoardo also has an eight-year-old son, Christopher Woolf—nicknamed Wolfie—from his previous relationship with his ex-fiancée.
The couple, who are not working royals, tied the knot in July 2020 at the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park. They welcomed their daughter in September of the following year.
The newest addition to the royal family will be 11th in line to the throne, following Sienna and Beatrice, which will move Princess Eugenie to the 12th spot.
Similar to their older sister, the baby will not receive an HRH designation or a royal title.
