One diver got that chance in the Maldives and now has stunning footage to prove it. The massive size difference aside, the very thought of it is enough to send anyone packing. Then there’s the glorious display of marine life in full bloom. There isn’t one thing that isn’t working in this video, and you’d be missing a whole lot if you don’t watch it.

A diver named Laikko recently shared footage of their swim next to a giant blue whale in deep waters. The video has to be watched. The first shot of the video challenges your perspective at first with the whale swimming close to the water’s surface. It then moves deeper and a few seconds into the clip, the diver slowly swims up to it and hangs around its tail.
Here’s some perspective: these giant mammals can grow up to a whopping 100 feet tall and can weigh almost 200 tonnes. Let’s break that down a little bit more: the tongue of a massive blue whale is equivalent in weight to an entire grown elephant (roughly 7 tons).
